Description from the seller
Monumental antique cast-iron fireplace plate with rider (Napoleon) – rich Empire relief – approx. 60 kg
⸻
Description
Very impressive and monumental cast-iron fireplace plate with a refined and deep relief of a rider on horseback, strongly inspired by Napoleon and the Empire style.
The whole piece is richly decorated with classical architectural elements, graceful columns and floral ornamentation, giving this piece a stately and almost museum-like appearance. The central scene shows a powerful rider in motion, framed by a decorative surround that adds depth and grandeur to the composition.
This type of fireplace plate was traditionally used in open fireplaces to reflect heat, but today it is mainly appreciated as a characterful decorative piece, wall decor or interior statement piece.
The heavy quality of the cast iron and the detailed finish emphasize the artisanal origin. Over time the piece has developed a beautiful, authentic patina that contributes to its charm and appearance.
