Description from the seller
Grundig Satellit 2000 – Iconic Multi-Band Transistor Radio (1973-1975) – Auction Description
Lot description
In this auction a true piece of German technological history: the Grundig Satellit 2000 (model 2099). Produced between 1973 and 1975, this radio is considered by collectors as one of the best “world receivers” ever made for build quality and reception sensitivity.
Main features:
Extreme Multi-Band Reception: Covers FM, LW, MW and as many as 18 SW bands (shortwave). It features the famous fully functioning rotating drum for selecting oceanic bands; when you turn it, it makes a crackling sound, a sign of some dirt on the contacts—suggests a quick clean.
Superior Audio Quality: Equipped with large speakers that deliver the typical Grundig sound: warm, deep, and crystal clear.
Professional Design: “Technical” aesthetic in black and silver, with a double tuning scale and S-Meter indicators for signal strength.
Dimensions: A imposing object (about 46 x 27 x 12 cm) that decorates and fascinates.
Condition of the item: Working
Aesthetics: The unit presents itself in very good condition. The plastics are intact, the chrome is shiny, and the audible scales are clearly legible. The antenna is intact, straight, and sliding. It shows a few signs of wear consistent with age and described in photos.
Functionality: The radio powers on and receives on all bands/FM. The S-Meter works well. The scale illumination works on shortwave; the other lamps will need replacement. The buttons and the drum are smooth and function properly.
Power: Runs on mains cable (included) or with batteries.
An unmissable opportunity for vintage radio collectors or anyone seeking a receiver with performances that remain impressive today.
