Description from the seller
The offered chair is a classic model type 200/100B, designed by Mieczysław Zieliński and produced in the late 1960s by the Opolski Center for Furniture Industry. It is an excellent example of Polish utilitarian design from the PRL era, combining functionality with an elegant, modernist form.
The construction is made of beech wood and is characterized by lightness and stability; the upholstery is in good condition and does not need replacement. The chair shows signs of use; everything is visible in the photos. Thanks to its timeless form, the chair blends beautifully with both vintage interiors and contemporary arrangements.
Mieczysław Zieliński was one of the important furniture designers in post-war Poland. His works emerged during a period of intensive national reconstruction and development of the furniture industry. He primarily designed mass-produced furniture—accessible to a wide audience—while also paying attention to aesthetics and ergonomics. His projects, such as type 200/100B, are today valued for:
- timeless design
- solid construction
- representativeness for Polish modernism of the 1960s.
The chair was created at a time when the Polish furniture industry was developing rapidly. Facilities like the Opolski Center for Furniture Industry produced furniture on a large scale, meeting the needs of apartments in block housing. Despite mass production, many projects—including this model—stood out for high design quality, which today makes them sought-after collector’s items.
Dimensions:
height: 82 cm
seat height: 45 cm
width: 40 cm
depth: 41 cm.
