An Art Deco oak side table dating from the 1920s to 1930s with ScyScraper legs.
Description from the seller
Beautiful Art Deco side table, typical of the Amsterdam School, with the characteristic stair-step legs (ScyScraper - model). At that time there were also lampshades in that shape. Often the feet on the underside were painted black as well, but that is not the case with this table.
The table weighs about 6 kg, is 63 cm tall and 50 cm in diameter. It is made of Dutch oak, dried in the old-fashioned way. The top is still nicely flat and also made of oak. It was probably sanded with a power sander at some point. You can still see a few light marks from this. There are also a few light moisture rings and other small stains visible, but very light (see photos).
The table was probably manufactured in the 1920s or 1930s. These small tables were often used as smoking tables (often they had a tray covered with thinly rolled brass, so cigarettes and cigars dropping from the ashtray wouldn’t burn the wood, but in this case the top is simply wood). The table is still 100% original (see photos).
This table is still in very good condition and completely stable. Here and there it shows logical signs of use. On the left and right a small nail was used in the wood and copper (see photos), and there are also two gaps visible at the junction of two legs to the underside (see photos). These are all merely signs of use; easy to repair but not necessary to do so.
The table is carefully packed and insured for shipment.
