Description from the seller
Military Retrofit H0: 2 wagons with cargo
4-axle flat wagon with Land-Water-Tractor (LWS)
The Land-Water-Tractor (LWS) was an amphibious tracked vehicle used by the Wehrmacht in World War II. It was developed from 1936 by Rheinmetall-Borsig to serve as a seaworthy tractor for river crossings and coastal landings.
Hybrid design:
The vehicle resembled a motorboat on a tank chassis. It had two propellers at the stern for propulsion in the water.
Performance:
With a 300 hp engine, the LWS reached about 40 km/h on land and about 12.5 km/h in water
Capacity:
It could carry up to 20 soldiers or equivalent cargo.
Protection:
The original design (LWS I) was unarmored. Later a lightly armored variant (LWS II) based on the Panzer IV chassis was developed, of which only prototypes were produced.
Originally intended for the Seelöwe project (the planned landing in Great Britain), the vehicles entered service after its cancellation on the Eastern Front and in North Africa. Due to the small quantity and lack of armor, military usefulness remained limited.
4-axle low-bed wagon with transport trailer for Land-Water-Tractor (LWS).
The Wehrmacht’s Land-Water-Tractor (LWS) was specifically developed for amphibious operations and featured its own floatable transport trailers to move additional loads or troops over water and difficult terrain. Trailers for LWS 20t: A massive, four-axle trailer with a own weight of about 12.5 tons and an impressive payload of up to 24 tons.
Buoyancy:
The trailers were designed as boat-like hull constructions so they would not sink in water and could be towed by the LWS.
Usage:
Originally intended for the Seelöwe project (invasion of England), they were later used mainly on the Eastern Front, in the Mediterranean, and in Africa by pioneer battalions.
Detailed conversion. TOP quality. Unique. Built from original reference photos. No fantasy models. In replacement packaging.
Not available commercially!!!
