Chinese white-glazed ceramic vessel with carved floral decoration, a pressed vase with a short neck. The creamlike white, ivory-colored glaze has a uniform, matte texture and shows fine natural crackle as well as age-related inclusions. The entire body is adorned with a deeply and crisply molded high-relief decoration of blooming peonies (Mudan) and winding foliage. The interior and the unglazed mouth rim ("Mangkou") are in a rich brown-black, a characteristic stylistic feature of the period. The base is unglazed except for a narrow foot, revealing the light, sandy shards with typical firing marks.
