Monograph AZIMUT/H: Continuità e nuovo by Luca Massimo Barbero, an illustrated hardback in Italian of 480 pages, published by Marsilio in 2014 with excellent condition and original language, focusing on the Azimut gallery and the Azimuth magazine.
Description from the seller
Splendid and imposing monographic volume dedicated to one of the most radical and influential experiences in the art of the second half of the twentieth century: the Azimuth gallery and the Azimuth magazine, founded in Milan in 1959 by Piero Manzoni and Enrico Castellani.
Curated by Luca Massimo Barbero, this catalog was published on the occasion of the historic exhibition at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice (2014-2015). It is not a simple catalog, but a monumental reference work that reconstructs the climate of creative ferment between the late 1950s and the early 1960s, marking the transition from Informal to new spatial and object concepts.
Strengths and contents:
In-depth analysis: Explores the iconic works of Manzoni (the Achromes) and Castellani (the Superfici), placing them in dialogue with the protagonists of the international scene such as Lucio Fontana, Yves Klein, the Zero Group and the Nul Group.
Exceptional iconography: Over 960 high-quality illustrations that document not only the works, but also precious archival materials, period photographs and original documents from the magazine.
