Description from the seller
Liberty bronze frame with horses and horseshoe – Italy, early 20th century
Elegant and dramatic patinated bronze photo frame, made in Italy in the early decades of the twentieth century, fully attributable to the Liberty style (Art Nouveau).
The piece stands out for its refined sculptural relief decoration, dominated by a suggestive equestrian motif: four horse heads, rendered with sinuous and dynamic lines, emerge from the surface with strong expressiveness, embodying the fluid and naturalistic aesthetics typical of the era. The horses, symbols of strength, elegance and freedom, are arranged harmoniously along the frame, creating a continuous visual rhythm.
The central and striking element is the horseshoe that frames the main opening. In addition to its structural function, it carries an important symbolic meaning: traditionally considered a good luck charm and sign of protection, it confers to the object both a talismanic and decorative value at the same time.
The dark patina of the bronze, with slight wear consistent with age, enhances the details and gives depth to the forms. The inner background, covered in fabric with warm tones, creates a pleasant chromatic contrast with the metal structure.
An object of great charm, ideal both as a decorative element and as a collectible piece, capable of enriching classical and eclectic environments.
