Headrest - Wood

African neckrest from the Luba kingdom. It is a monoxylous object, carved from a single piece of wood. The finesse of the piece testifies to the sculptor's mastery. This prestige object, made to order by a chief who could afford such a work, was used to rest the head on it to preserve the complex coiffure.
