Material: Dark impasto ceramic, burnished surface.
Height: 20 cm.
Description:
A fine example of early Italian pottery, this Villanovan amphora features a classic globular/biconical body and two distinct vertical handles. The surface shows evidence of traditional burnishing, resulting in a dark finish typical of high-quality impasto production from the 8th Century BC. The proportions are elegant and well-balanced.
Condition Report:
The vessel has been professionally reassembled from original fragments, which is standard for archaeological ceramics of this period. The structure is sound and stable. Direct inspection confirms minor professional conservation to the rim (visible as a slightly darker area) and localized surface stabilization, as detailed in the photographs .
