Large bronze statue from Djenné. - Soninke - Mali

Impressive and rare Soninke bronze statue, 39 cm tall, from Djenné in Mali.
It depicts a female figure afflicted by an illness that paralyzes her.
She is seated, with legs folded and atrophied, the torso imposing and straight, the navel prominent, her hands holding U-shaped instruments that allow her to move.
The arms and wrists are decorated with bracelets.
The figure is crowned with braids and a serpent, and she wears a necklace.
The face is finely sculpted and very expressive. The ears are pierced.
Beautiful oxidation patina that clearly shows the piece's antiquity.
It measures 39 cm and weighs nearly 5 kilograms.
Bronze statues of this size are rare in Mali.
