Italian-designed chess set from the 1960s–1970s, with a chrome steel frame and a cork chequerboard, metal pieces in silver/chrome and gold/bronze finishes, board 35 × 35 cm and 3 cm high, complete with all pieces and original Made in Italy labels.
Description from the seller
A refined Italian-design chess set, dating from the 1970s, characterized by a strong modernist and decorative aesthetic.
The chessboard features a square structure with a frame in chromed/steel metal, resting on four spherical feet, with a playing surface covered in cork with alternating squares. The contrast between the warm, tactile cork surface and the shine of the metal creates a very elegant effect, typical of the Italian taste of the 1970s.
The pieces are made of metal, with two opposing finishes: one silver/chrome and one gold/brass. The shapes are stylized and geometric, with cylinders, solid volumes, turned elements and contoured details that distinguish kings, queens, rooks, bishops, knights and pawns. The whole has a strong sculptural and decorative impact, perfect not only as a board game but also as a furnishing object.
All the pieces still bear the original label “Made in Italy” at the base; a similar label is visible also on the back of the chessboard.
The set is complete with all the pieces.
Dimensions of the chessboard: 35 x 35 cm, height 3 cm. The chessmen have measurements ranging from 1.5 cm to 4 cm.
Excellent vintage condition overall, with normal signs of wear and use consistent with the object's age.
Photos are an integral part of the description.
National and international shipping with careful and protective packaging.
The item will be packed with particular care to preserve both the chessboard and the individual metal pieces during transport.
