Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
An oval solid silver tray in 800 fineness, weighing 2131 g, with a richly decorated Baroque/Rococo border and two ornate handles, dating to 1970–1980 and made in Lazio, Italy, in excellent condition with light signs of use.
Description from the seller
Main Description
Charming and majestic oval tray in solid silver with 800 fineness.
This imposing object stands out for its size and its substantial weight of over 2 kg (2131g), which certify its high intrinsic value and solid craftsmanship.
The design is a clever play of contrasts:
• The Rim and the Handles: They feature a very rich embossed and chased decoration in full Baroque/Rococo style. It is a triumph of acanthus scrolls, foliate motifs, and shells that run along the entire perforated perimeter. The dark patina left in the recesses of the work beautifully enhances the relief and depth of the decorations.
• The Handles: Two majestic molded handles, also richly decorated with motifs coordinated to the rim, complete the structure offering a solid and elegant grip.
• The back: It is finished with refined machining of concentric satin circles (ornamental turning). This technique creates a beautiful reflective and clean optical effect, which hides well the inevitable small lines from use and gives the tray a modern and clean appearance.
It is a piece with great visual impact, ideal both as a significant centerpiece and as a luxury service tray for special occasions. An indispensable piece for tosters of silverware or lovers of art objects for the table.
Condition Report
Excellent overall condition.
The silver is bright and well cared for. It shows normal signs of use, light scratches and surface tarnish compatible with age and use, but no structural damage, significant dents or visible repairs. The patina has been left in the recesses of the rim decoration to enhance the relief (as per photos). For details, refer to the photos.
Marks and Stamps:
Silver Title: Stamp '800' present and legible.
Origin: Italian artisanal production purchased in the 1970s (private family collection). The maker's mark is not present, a feature sometimes found in vintage pieces sold through retail channels or by commission. The quality of workmanship and the substantial weight confirm the massiveness of the piece.
Shipping: shipping only to EU countries.
