Brand Agfa, Model/Type Isolette I, Functional condition: tested and working.
Description from the seller
This camera is a classic Agfa Isolette I, an iconic folding camera produced by Agfa Kamerawerk in Munich, Bavaria, in the early fifties (around 1951–1954). The Isolette series is famous for being one of the postwar “pocket powerhouses,” delivering medium format quality in an extremely compact and portable body, ideal for travelers and amateur photographers of the time.
The specimen sports an Agfa Anar 85mm f/4.5 lens, a three-element lens that offers excellent performance in 6x6 format on 120 film, delivering images with that characteristic vintage softness that many analog photographers seek today. The shutter is a Vario, with selectable speeds of 1/25, 1/50, 1/200 second, plus B (time) exposure. Focus is manual and estimate-based, adjustable by rotating the front lens ring. The camera stands out for its elegant design with a satin-finished top cover and a built‑in shutter release button that enhances its ergonomics.
The camera presents in very good cosmetic condition, with the distinctive intact black Agfa coating and the bellows appearing solid and well preserved. The lot is enhanced by its original tan leather case, shaped to fit, with the Agfa logo embossed and finished edging, which has protected the instrument for decades. This Agfa Isolette I is not only a piece of German photography history, but also remains a capable tool today for producing large, detailed square negatives. It is sold as a collectible item; a test of the shutter speeds is recommended if you intend to use it actively.
