Antique oak piëdestal / coffee table in Amsterdamse school style, dating from 1930–1940, in good used condition with minor signs of aging and small stains, height 70.5 cm, top diameter 32 cm, base diameter ~14 cm, width 39.5 cm, depth 39.5 cm, weight 4 kg, one piece.
Description from the seller
Very beautiful plant stand (also suitable as a side table or pedestal). The little table is 70.5 cm high and the top surface has a diameter of 32 cm. The bottom surface has a diameter of almost 14 cm and the weight is about 4 kg. The width and depth are 39.5 cm. The table is made of beautiful, sturdy oak.
The table dates from the 1920s or 1930s of the last century. It is clearly made in the Art Deco style, although the legs with their graceful S-shape also show traces of Art Nouveau. The joining materials are unfortunately no longer original and have been replaced by more modern square corners. This to restore the furniture’s stability (see photos). That repair was made in the 1960s or 1970s, given the patina on the corners and the screws used.
The table can be used as a plant stand, but also as a side table or pedestal (see photos). Very elegant are the simple lines of the legs with the light S-shape, a slight widening at the top and a graceful narrowing at the bottom (see photos).
The wood shows hardly any signs of use; for a table that is about 100 years old, it still looks very good. The table is still extremely stable. It is therefore possible to place a heavy statue on it.
This antique piece of furniture is a jewel in any interior, both classic and modern. It will be carefully packed and insured for shipment.
