AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Two-colored ovoid jar from Montelupo Fiorentino; dragon-shaped handles painted in green, ochre, and brown. Floral decoration mainly with green leaves. Inside a medallion painted yellow is the image of a saintly friar. Fausto Berti in “Storia della ceramica di Montelupo”, volume III, p. 158, writes: ‹‹Another group of biansated jars with a pouring spout 'a pippio' show, on the front shield, the image of a saint friar on a yellow background››. Some chips and a notch along the edge, but overall in good condition. The line seen transversely across the body of the vessel is not a ceramic crack but an original defect due to the action of the potter at the wheel. Rare with the lid. Height 20 cm; distance between the handles 19 cm; diameter at the rim 7.5 cm. The photos faithfully reflect the object’s condition. Provenance: from my collection. The buyer will be sent a copy of the purchase document dating to 2016. SHIPPING ONLY TO UE.
