A refined Italian silver serving spoon by Argenterie Greggio of Padova, dating from the late 1980s to early 1990s in .800 silver with pierced work on the bowl, in a Neobarocco/Rococò-inspired style, measuring 12.5 cm in depth, 5.5 cm in width, 4 cm in height and 41 g, with good used condition showing minor age-related marks and stains.
Description from the seller
Here is a refined example of Italian silverware at its best: a splendid serving palette crafted by the prestigious Greggio silversmith in Padua, dated to the late 1980s to early 1990s.
The piece stands out for the superb pierced work on the flat surface, characterized by elegant scrolls and foliate motifs that lightens the design while enhancing its refinement. The handle, finely chased and curled into a flourish, ensures a secure grip and a visually high-class impact on the table.
The palette is made in a Neobaroque/Rococo revisited style. The sinuous shapes, elaborate openwork, and acanthus leaf decorations recall the splendor of the 18th century, reinterpreted with the technical precision typical of Greggio’s 20th-century manufacturing. It is a piece that marries the rigor of precious metal with the lightness of a nearly textile-like design.
Greggio is synonymous with quality and tradition in Italian silverware. This palette is not only a functional utensil (perfect for asparagus, small pastries, or savory pies) but a true decorative art object that lends prestige to any place setting or display of silver.
