“Back Feature,” a photo collection by Japanese photographer Ryu Hanabusa. Hanabusa has been active as a freelance photographer since the 1970s and spent four years in Paris from 1978 and eight years from 1991; his wife is Mikako Ogura, known as an essayist and French food scholar. Hanabusa Ryu, who deeply admired Atget, longed for Paris, and dedicated his work to the city, is famous for his portraits of numerous celebrities and renowned actors. This is a newly revised edition of *Back*, one of a series of collections published by Shinchosha in the 1990s. The collection consists of images focused on the “backs” of women. “The truth of a woman lies in her back.”
