Compared to the mostly quite simply designed Berber carpets, the Somay Berber carpet at first glance appears rather atypical for a classic Beni Ourain. In particular, its intense colors and modern design make it a contemporary and unique piece.

The Somay Berber carpet has a centralized design layout. Here, the center is formed by a triangle that is split colorwise into two areas along its length. The apparent tip of the triangle leads into a royal blue bar, which seems to catch it and provides a balanced counterpoint to the much larger triangle.

The Somay Berber carpet originates from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, a vast high mountain range in the northwest of Africa, and is a typical Beni Ourain Berber carpet. The manufacturing process takes place in a traditional and 100% natural way, starting with the procurement of the raw material, through the dyeing of the yarn, to the knitting of the carpet.
