Description from the seller
"Tokyo Comedy" is a collection of works by the Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki.
Nobuyoshi Araki is a Japanese photographer and contemporary artist.
Araki studied photography during his student years and then went to work at the advertising agency Dentsu, where he met his future wife, essayist Yōko Araki. After their marriage, Araki published a photo book with photos of his wife taken during their honeymoon, titled Sentimental Journey. She died later in 1990. Photographs taken during her final days were published in a book titled "Winter Journey."
"The artist Nobuyoshi Araki basically works without a safety net; every statement becomes the spontaneous and irrevocable expression of his loneliness in relation to the wilderness of sexuality" (Werner Würtinger, Wiener Secession).
Illustrated with full-page black-and-white photographs. Biographical data and exhibition history at the back.
