I am Salvo Carbone. Iron is my trade and my passion, since I first saw the fire melt metal. Over the years up to today I have had the honor of meeting and collaborating with world-class blacksmiths, such as master Roberto Giordani, one of the leading exponents of wrought iron in Italy and my mentor, with whom I took my first courses in Emilia-Romagna, refining techniques and skills that I still express in my work today. The master Carmelo Carmeni, world champion of forging, with whom I earned the certificate in forging techniques. The master Giovanni Rotondo, known from following his metal polishing course, or Jiří Bata, Czech Republic, pupil of the sculptor Toni Benetton. After decades of experiences and collaborations that still enrich me, today I run Arte in Ferro, the workshop where I began my journey, founded over 25 years ago by one of my masters, Filippo Pietro Castrovinci. A company that has stood out over the years for its strong professionalism and integrity. I am responsible for organizing the Biennale of Forging “San Marco Iron Fest” and I am vice president of the Italian Association of Artistic Blacksmiths, founded about 15 years ago in Sicily and grown with members across Italy, which organizes training courses in the metalworking sector for both professionals and enthusiasts.
