Acrylic painting on canvas signed Laurent Casimir on a wooden stretcher. Dimensions: 74 cm x 29 cm. Provenance: Haiti. Laurent Casimir is a Haitian painter, born May 8, 1928 in L'Anse-à-Veau, and died in 1990. He settled in Port-au-Prince in the late 1940s and was introduced to the Centre d'Art in 1947 by his friend, painter Dieudonné Cédor. From 1950 to 1956, he frequented the Foyer des Arts Plastiques, founded by a group of intellectuals and modern artists, including Cédor. Casimir was one of the instigators of a Haitian archetype, the market painting, which he painted using various tones of red, orange, and yellow. Envoi protégé avec suivi.
