Description from the seller
Franco Fontana
Skyline
Published by Contrasto in 2013, thirty-five years after the legendary first edition of 1978, Skyline by Franco Fontana represents one of the cornerstones of contemporary photography. This work marks the moment when color ceased to be a mere descriptive tool and became the absolute protagonist of a new visual aesthetic. Through the deft use of telephoto lenses that flatten planes, Fontana transforms natural and urban landscapes into geometric compositions that are almost abstract, where the boundary lines between earth and sky become clear and vibrant fields of color.
In this reissue, enriched by the texts of Claude Nori and Francesco Zanot, it becomes evident how Fontana managed to strip the world of the superfluous, reducing reality to a formal synthesis of rare power. His images do not seek to document a specific place, but aim to reveal its invisible structure and chromatic harmony, influencing entire generations of photographers and graphic designers. Skyline is therefore not merely a collection of shots, but a true theoretical manifesto that established the artistic autonomy of color and form in the international photographic landscape.
The volume is in excellent overall condition. Cover with slight signs of wear. Sewn binding is firmly intact. Inner pages clean with no creases or stains. An excellent copy for collectors.
