Description from the seller

Antique Cast Bronze Double Photo Frame | Rococo | Signed & Dated | 1052g

AN EXTRAORDINARY PIECE FROM A BYGONE ERA
Imagine: a European workshop, somewhere around 1906 (legible engraved in the central cartouche), where a master caster pours this lavish piece from molten bronze with utmost precision.
More than 120 years later this centerpiece still stands upright — unaltered, complete and stunningly beautiful.

DESCRIPTION
This is not a ordinary photo frame.
This is a museum-quality object in the true sense of the word.
The frame is made of solid cast bronze of exceptional weight (over 1 kilogram!) and shows all features of the mature Rococo-revival style that was popular in Western Europe in the second half of the 19th century.
The central cartouche at the top bears an inscription — likely a monogram and the year 1906 — which makes this piece extremely rare as a dated and possibly personalized object.

STYLE & DECORATION
The rich ornamentation speaks for itself.
Luxurious acanthus leaf and shell motifs, graceful S- and C-scrolls in classical Rococo fashion, finely worked flower and rosette motifs, textured diaper fields on the corner pieces, a stylized shell (coquille) as the central bottom decoration and elegant openwork at the bottom and along the sides.
The beautiful, authentic patina — a deep golden-brown with subtle green oxidation tones — has been shaped by the march of time and gives the piece its unmistakable character and authenticity.
