Memorabilia collection

The lot contains photos and brochures from a trip that the Belgian clothing retailer Jules Marlier (1905-1993) undertook with his seven-year-old son Daniel (1947-2022) in 1954. It took him on business visits to Striwa GmbH in Lichtenfels, Upper Franconia, and to inspections in Upper Bavaria and Austria. The exact travel route and dates are unknown in detail.

The lot comes from Daniel’s estate. He mentioned the trip several times to the seller, as it was naturally a memorable experience for the small boy at the time. It was found as a whole in the estate division, within the folder contained in the lot. All parts are in very good condition except for signs of use. All major defects are listed below.

The lot consists in detail of the following parts:

Lichtenfels:

- 1 work and customer magazine "Striwa Post" 1/1953 of Striwa GmbH, Lichtenfels: 7 pages, several black-and-white photos and illustrations. Light signs of wear, folded twice, one larger tear.
- 1 church guide to the pilgrimage church of Vierzehnheiligen, in a protective cover, 47 pages, of which 4 pages text, the rest black-and-white photos; Verlag Karl Robert Langewiesche, Königstein im Taunus, no year. Light signs of wear.

Salzburg:

- 1 flyer, 12 pages, elaborately illustrated and with 8 black-and-white photos, texts in German, English, French and Italian.
- 1 city map with main sights and restaurant recommendations.
- 1 set of 12 black-and-white photos (9x7 cm) in an envelope with various motifs from Salzburg.

Linz:

- 1 flyer, 16 pages, with beautiful drawings, in French. Edges slightly torn.
- 1 folded city map, in French.
- 1 city guide with texts on the main sights, including surrounding areas, 16 black-and-white photos, fold-out city map, numerous advertisements, in German.
- 1 set of 12 black-and-white photos (9x7 cm) in an envelope with various motifs from Linz and surroundings.

Vienna:

- Set of 23 black-and-white photos (9x7 cm) with various motifs from Vienna and Schönbrunn Palace.
- 2 color postcards (unwritten, unstamped).

Villach:

- 1 flyer, 6 pages, 17 black-and-white photos of Villach and surroundings, in German.

Lienz:

- 1 flyer, 8 pages, 15 black-and-white photos of Lienz and surroundings, text in German, English, Italian and French.

Zell am See:

- Flyer of the Seehotel Zauner, Strandcafé (6 pages, with color drawings, in French and Italian), inserted price list from 1954.

Innsbruck:

- 1 flyer, 8 pages, 5 black-and-white photos of Innsbruck and surroundings in winter, text in English. Cleanly bound with tape at a crease.
- 2 identical brochures, folded in the middle, 15 color photos of Innsbruck and surroundings, short texts in French.
- 1 city map with main sights, in French.
- 1 accommodation directory with summer prices 1954, in German.
- 1 flyer of the “Hotel and Weinhaus zur Goldenen Rose,” in German, with 5 black-and-white photos and a travel map.
- 1 leporello with 16 black-and-white photos (9x7 cm) with various motifs from Innsbruck and the surrounding mountains.

Tyrol:

- 1 folded overview map of Tyrol, 8 pages, with place directory and campsite directory, in German, English and French.
- 1 multi-folded flyer with 18 color illustrations of children in traditional costumes (with place indications) and 27 black-and-white photos, captions in German, English, French and Italian. Edges partially torn.
- 1 brochure of the “Grünwalderhof ob Igls” in Patsch near Innsbruck, with 9 black-and-white photos, texts and binding captions in German.
- 1 program flyer for an evening event “A Summer Day on a Tyrolean Mountain” (no specific date), 4 pages without photos or illustrations, in German, French and English.

Oberammergau:

- 12 black-and-white photos (9x6.5 cm) in an envelope with various motifs from Oberammergau and surroundings.
- 2 hotel flyers of the “Hotel Wolf” in Oberammergau, one in German and one in French.

Additionally:

- 1 color postcard (unwritten, unstamped) from St. Wolfgang.
- 2 black-and-white postcards (unwritten, unstamped) with Emperor Franz Joseph I on horseback and Empress Elisabeth (1864) after the painting by Franz Xaver Winterhalter.
- 1 black-and-white postcard (unwritten, unstamped) with a traditional costume group.
- 4 private black-and-white photos (11x8.5 cm): 2 motifs from Vienna and one each of Mayerling Castle and the surroundings of Kitzbühel, with the reverse side hand-written dated 1954 and with place names in French.

The lot is held together by a folder (DIN A4 size), outside brown leather, inside brown fabric with (loosened) elastic bands. The folder shows clear signs of use.
