UK Postal History Collection covering 1826 to the mid-20th century.
The lot includes varied authentic material, with particular historical interest:
- 7 pre-stamp letters (prefilatelic) with handwritten markings and red postmarks (approx. 1826–1829)
- Original fragments with old handwriting and “FREE MAIL” marks
- Circulated envelopes with classic British stamps
- 32 sets of used Penny Red-type stamps, with different cancellations
- 2 commemorative envelopes, including the British Empire Exhibition issue (1925)
- 1 First Day Cover from the Universal Postal Union (1949)
The pieces are mounted on sheets in an antique album.
“Some pieces are affixed to the leaves with traditional collection hinges. This system was common in old albums and may leave slight marks on the reverse.”
Overall condition: mixed, with normal signs of age such as stains, edge wear, and handling marks. All material is original and circulated.
