Description from the seller
Exceptional table service for 12 people in porcelain, model "Ancona", produced by Richard Ginori.
The “Ancona” model by Richard Ginori is one of the most recognizable sets from the twentieth-century production of the manufactory, appreciated for its sober elegance and for the particular play of relief on the porcelain.
It is a model made in very fine white porcelain, characterized by a decoration not painted but molded directly into the material. The distinctive element is in fact a spiral or fan-shaped relief that starts from the edge and develops toward the center of the plate with a fluid and regular progression. This motif creates a dynamic effect: light glides over the surface and highlights the curves, giving movement to an object that, in reality, is completely monochrome.
The form is clean and balanced, with edges slightly wavy or undulating that echo the rhythm of the ornament. It is not a model decorated in the traditional sense, but rather an example of design in which the very structure of the porcelain becomes decoration, according to a modern taste but still tied to classicality.
The service offered at auction is complete for 12 people and consists of 41 pieces:
12 flat plates
12 soup plates
12 appetizer or dessert plates
1 tureen
1 sauce boat
1 gravy boat
1 oval tray
1 round tray
The set is in excellent condition, no plate has defects.
