Afghan antique handwoven wool rug from 1930–1940, measuring 1.97 × 2.95 m, thin pile similar to Kazakh style, in good structural condition with natural wear and color variations due to age, professional cleaning recommended.
Description from the seller
We present an ancient Afghan rug, completely handcrafted in pure wool, an authentic decorative piece with great personality.
Handwoven in Afghanistan between 1930 and 1940, this rug stands out for its soft texture, fine wool and a pleasant feel, as well as for its traditional geometric motifs inspired by tribal design.
Unlike traditional Afghan carpets of thick pile, this piece features a finer, lighter structure, similar to a Kazakh style, which gives it elegance and a more flexible drape without losing durability.
Time has granted it a beautiful vintage patina. The original reddish tones show slight variations toward more orange hues in some areas, probably due to exposure to light, sun, or natural wool oxidation, something common in antique pieces that adds authenticity and character.
The overall structure remains in good condition, maintaining firmness and stability. It shows natural wear consistent with its age. Professional cleaning is recommended to refresh the color and further improve its presentation.
