Adolphe Thiers - lettre autographe signée - 1861

A very beautiful autograph letter signed by Adolphe Thiers (1797-1877), French statesman, historian and journalist, a major figure of the 19th century, who was notably the first president of the Third Republic. He played a central role in the repression of the Paris Commune in 1871 and in the political reconstruction of France after the Franco-Prussian War.

"There is so much malice in this world that the vote of a man of a perfectly educated and enlightened mind, and moreover entirely disinterested in his judgments, far from being a banal thing, is a thing of great value."
