Lot of projection optics Leitz Wetzlar – EPIS 1:4.3/500mm + internal lens group for episcopes – Germany 1950s/1970s
Proposed at auction, an interesting lot consisting of original optics for episcopes, including a prominent objective signed Ernst Leitz Wetzlar, sourced from antique educational/scientific equipment.
Contents of the lot:
1) Leitz Wetzlar EPIS 1:4.3 / 500mm objective
A large professional projection lens designed for episcopes and epidiaskopes.
- Brand: Ernst Leitz Wetzlar (Germany)
- Model: EPIS
- Focal length: 500 mm
- Aperture: f/4.3
- Entirely metal construction, large-diameter lens
- Production: circa 1950s–1970s
These optics were used for projecting images and paper documents using high-intensity light sources.
2) Condenser lens group / internal optics for episcopic device
Second item consisting of multiple glass lenses mounted in the original frame.
- Function: concentration and distribution of light in episcopes
- Mounted in a frame with supports (likely original to the device)
- Large diameter, thick glass with high optical quality
