Description from the seller

A high-quality, collaborative stoneware wall plate from the renowned Oosterbeek studio of Jan van Stolk (1920–1997) and Jaap Dommisse (1929–1984). This rare piece dates to their celebrated partnership period between 1953 and 1959. The plate is hand-thrown in coarse chamotte clay, finished with a rich, dark manganese/tenmoku-style engobe. It features a striking, gestural fish motif executed in the "gouged-out" sgraffito technique, revealing the light clay body beneath. The primitive, expressive style is highly characteristic of the post-war Dutch avant-garde and the CoBrA movement influences of the era.

Artist: Jan van Stolk & Jaap Dommisse (Signed by both on the reverse)

Period: 1950s (Oosterbeek period)

Material: Chamotte Stoneware

Dimensions: 268 mm (Diameter) x 34 mm (Height)

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or restorations.
