Rotel RCD-965BX CD player, in very good physical condition, tested and working, includes remote, weight 10 kg.
Description from the seller
The Rotel RCD-965BX is a legendary CD player from the early 1990s that is still highly loved by audio enthusiasts. It is known for its “analog,” warm sound and robust build quality.
Main Features;
Technology: One of the first successful players with the Philips Bitstream 1-bit DAC (SAA-7323GP), which produced a smoother sound compared with early multi-bit players.
Deck: Uses the high-quality Philips CDM-4/19 swing-arm mechanism, known for its extreme durability and quiet operation.
Components: Often includes luxury parts such as Black Gate capacitors in the analog output circuit for better sound quality.
Performance & Versions
Sound: Described as musical, spacious, and free from the “digital sharpness” that characterized many early CD players.
I have compared this player with the current Rotel CD14 –MKII and heard no difference in the audio reproduction. Very remarkable given the roughly 30-year gap. I conducted a comparative test with a Yamaha rn-800a amplifier and with the PMC Prodigy 5 speakers. Both tested with connections to the analog outputs of the CD players.
The CD player is essentially scratch-free all around, basically in new condition, including the lighting. Only on top of the case are there some light scratches. However, the amplifier is usually on top of the CD player, so that doesn’t matter much.
Also the components, belt, electrolytics, power supply, resistors are in beautiful condition. A very handsome hi-fi device.
