Textes et dessins pour Ronchamp by Le Corbusier, a 1981 French-language softback limited edition of 32 pages.
Description from the seller
“texts and drawings for ronchamp” by Le Corbusier.
French, 1981 edition. Softcover. 4 7/8 inches square, unpaginated, black and white illustrations, publisher's pictorial wrappers, perfect-bound (a few bumps to edges, overall moderate wear and soiling, tight, solid, about very good).
The book is a collection of his writings and sketches related to the design of the chapel at Ronchamp, specifically the famous Notre Dame du Haut.
Rather than being a conventional narrative, it’s more like a creative and conceptual document:
* It includes hand-drawn sketches, diagrams, and artistic studies
* Short texts reflecting his architectural philosophy
* Insights into how he approached form, light, space, and spirituality in the chapel’s design
In short, it’s about the thinking process behind one of the most iconic modernist buildings, blending architecture, art, and personal reflection.
Le Corbusier is considered one of the most important figures in architecture and design from the same era such as Jean Prouvé, Enzo Mari, Ettore Sottsass, Charlotte Perriand, such as George Nelson, Eames, Hella Jongerius, Verner Panton, Frank Gehry, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Maarten Van Severen, Alvar Aalto and Alexander Girard.
Le Corbusier was a Swiss-French architect, designer, painter, urban planner, and writer, who was one of the pioneers of what is now regarded as modern architecture. He was born in Switzerland to French-speaking Swiss parents, and acquired French nationality by naturalization on 19 September 1930.
