Afghan Beluch tribal hand-knotted wool rug, 87 × 110 cm, red and black, wool-on-wool, from Beluchistan, Afghanistan, dating to the late 20th century, in good overall condition.
Description from the seller
Hand-knotted tribal rug, originating from the Afghanistan/Balochistan area and made in the second half of the twentieth century (roughly the 1970s–1990s). Genuine traditional craftsmanship, characterized by the classic deep red field adorned with bold black geometric motifs with a strong decorative impact.
The design features two large central octagonal medallions (stylized göl), typical of Turkmen tradition reinterpreted in Afghan productions, flanked by a border rich in tribal geometric elements.
The rug is entirely hand-knotted with a Persian (asymmetric) knot and woven in wool also in the structure (warp and weft), a characteristic typical of nomadic crafts. The knot density, at a medium level, ensures good durability and makes it particularly suitable for daily use, while the pile thickness, approximately 0.8 to 1 cm, gives a pleasant feel underfoot.
Dimensions are 87 × 110 cm, it presents in good overall condition, consistent with its age.
This is an authentic handmade rug, not industrial, perfect for those seeking a decorative object with character and history, capable of enriching the room with the timeless charm of Central Asian textile tradition.
