A rare and complete set of sterling silver (925) proof commemorative medals, issued to mark Pope John Paul II's historic first visit to Hungary, August 16–20, 1991 — a landmark moment in the post-communist renewal of Catholic life in Central Europe.

The set covers each city visited during the papal tour:
• Debrecen (II. János Pál Pápa Debrecenben)
• Szombathely (II. János Pál Pápa Szombathelyen)
• Esztergom (II. János Pál Pápa Esztergomban)
• Máriapocs (II. János Pál Pápa Máriapcson)

Each medal features:
Obverse: High-relief proof depiction of the principal church or cathedral of the visited city, with papal coat of arms and Marian monogram "M"
Reverse: Devotional scene of the Madonna and Child, inscribed 1991. Augusztus 16–20 and 1038. Augusztus 16 (feast of St. Stephen, Hungary's first Christian king)

Condition: Proof finish. All medals in original protective capsules. Mirror-like surfaces with sharp detail. Minor age toning on some pieces, consistent with 30+ years of storage.
