Description from the seller
Beautiful console in veneered walnut, mid-19th century Italy, Carlo X period, in excellent overall condition. This piece is an antique console dating from the 19th century. The style strongly recalls the Carlo X period (typical of Italian furnishings in the first half of the 19th century). Materials: the structure is made of walnut feather-veneer, characterized by the typical flame-like figuring. The top is in dark marble (often Bardiglio gray marble or Saint Anne). Design: Features the classic S-shaped or curved uprights and a shaped base resting on carved lion-paw feet, a detail typical of high cabinetmaking of the era. Function: It was used as a parlor/entrance hall piece, often topped by a large coordinating looking-glass. Shipping is tracked and insured; please note that due to the marble weight, shipping may be more expensive, and I am available for in-person pickup if preferred. Attached is an expertise report by a well-known antique appraisal expert and registered with the court, Mr. Marco Zaia.
