Description from the seller

DETAILED DESCRIPTION AND HISTORY Title of Description: The End of an Era in American Numismatics
Historical Context
:This Half Dollar coin (50 Cents) belongs to the iconic "Capped Bust" series, designed by engraver John Reich and refined by Christian Gobrecht. The year 1839 is of extreme historical and collectible importance, as it marks the last year of production of this design. From 1839, this bust was replaced by the "Seated Liberty" design, which makes this piece the "final chapter" of one of the most beautiful eras of American coinage.
Technical and Conservation Details:
Weight of Excellence: With 13.4 grams, this piece retains virtually all of its original minting weight (13.36 g), which is rare for coins nearly 190 years old and proves the low level of abrasion.
The "Full Liberty":
The most critical point for collectors of this model is the ribbon on Liberty's head. On this piece, the word "LIBERTY" is fully sharp and complete, placing it at a superior conservation level (VF+/XF).
The Reverse (Large Letters):
Features the large-letter variant, with an imposing heraldic eagle. The shield on the eagle's chest still shows the vertical lines (pales) well defined, a sign that the coin was little handled.
Original Patina:
The coin has not undergone aggressive chemical cleaning, preserving a deep and authentic gunmetal gray patina, highly valued by purists.
Specifications: Year: 1839 (Final year of the series) Metal: 900 Silver (Silver) Diameter: 32.5 mm Variant: Reeded Edge (Bordo serrilhado) - Large Letters
