Elegant Italian-made desktop jewelry box in a classic style, with a veneered wood body and a silver-plated lid showing an 800 silver hallmark, measuring 19 cm long, 14 cm wide and 6 cm high, weighing 290 g, in good used condition with minor wear and signs of age, and an interior brown velvet lining with an integrated ring cylinder.
Description from the seller
Elegant classic-style desk jewelry box or presentation box, made in Italy between the 1960s and 1980s, combining a veneered wooden body (with decorative root or burl grain) and a metal-plated hinged lid, probably low-grade silver or silver-plated metal with a visible contrast “800” (indicating 800‑thousandths silver), next to a signature or partly legible jeweler's mark (possibly “Sagni…”), suggesting artisanal or small Italian workshop production. The lid features sober, refined decoration with a perimetral raised rope-like border and an oval central cartouche, originally intended for engraving or personalization, showing wear in that area with loss of plating, consistent with use and age. The body rests on four ornamental metal feet in a classical style with shell or stylized claw shapes, lending a distinguished and decorative touch. The interior is carefully lined in brown velvet, including an integrated ring holder cylinder, confirming its use as a jewelry box for rings, chains, or valuable objects. Its approximate dimensions are 19 cm long, 14 cm wide, and 6 cm high, with a weight of 290 grams, making it a practical piece with a good presence. The overall condition is good, with normal signs of use and aging: small superficial scratches on the lid, areas with plating wear especially on the central cartouche, and slight marks on the wood, without significant structural damage; hinges and clasp functional. A very attractive piece for functional use as well as vintage or classic decoration, ideal for collectors of vanity items, lovers of silverware, or as an elegant gift with character."}
