Kingdom of the Netherlands 25 cent 1825 Utrecht – possibly ‘3’ under ‘5’ in the year

25 cent, dated 1825, Kingdom of the Netherlands under King William I, minted in Utrecht. An early 19th-century silver circulating coin from the initial phase of the national coinage, in which a uniform monetary standard was introduced under central authority.

This specimen shows a possible die error in the year, where under the ‘5’ of 1825 an underlying ‘3’ may be visible. This could indicate an adjusted or reused year stamp within Utrecht production, a phenomenon that occurs sporadically in this period and is technically interesting for specialists. Struck in silver 569/1000, with a weight of 4.25 grams and a diameter of 20.6 mm. Literature: Schulman 289; KM 48.

A sharply struck specimen with strong detail, in which the possible die correction in the year adds an extra collecting and research-oriented dimension.
