Description from the seller
Symbol of elegance and agility, the greyhound has often been represented in animalier bronze sculptures, especially in the period from the 1930s to the 1950s. This specimen depicts a splendid dog in an alert stance with a vigilant pose typical of hunting, with the head turned upward. The lines of the chest and head (muzzle, nose, ears) are very carefully crafted. A check by base cut reveals the fullness of the sculpture, which was executed with the lost-wax casting technique. The weight is notable, as shown in the photo: even with the base removed it exceeds 1200 g. I indicated Italy as the origin since this item comes from a private collection, but the true country of origin is unknown; it could be French (very likely) or Scandinavian. The veined marble base is in good condition and the sculpture is fixed with two screws. We guarantee careful packaging.
