Hiroshi Sugimoto's Seascapes is a first edition hardcover with dust jacket from Damiani, in English, 272 pages, 28 × 26 cm, published in 2015, in as-new condition.
Description from the seller
Water and air. These primordial substances, which make all life on Earth possible, are the subject of Hiroshi Sugimoto's 'Seascapes' series. For over thirty years Sugimoto has traveled the world photographing its seas, giving rise to a body of works that represents a long meditation on the passage of time and the natural history of the planet.
Sugimoto has defined photography as the 'fossilization of time,' and in the Seascapes images he manages to capture simultaneously a precise moment and a feeling of timelessness.
This volume presents the entire collection of over 200 'Seascapes,' some of which have never been published before. All the photographs share the same format, with the horizon line dividing each image exactly in half; at times, however, sea and sky seem to merge into a single, continuous expanse. Each photograph captures a moment when the sea appears calm, almost flat.
