These ruby (corundum) crystals come from Mauritania, (Tiris Zemmour region) about 100 km northeast of the town of Zouerate.

I found these rubies during research and scouting in the desert with a view to offering stays for mineral and gold-detection enthusiasts.
I offer them as I discovered them; I have not subjected them to any heat or chemical treatment, just cleaning with soapy water.

All photos were taken in natural daylight.
For some of them I placed the rubies on a light source—the flashlight on my mobile phone or a lamp.

I photographed these gems as honestly and as accurately as possible using daylight.
Please note that differences in screen settings and ambient lighting can lead to variations in perceived color, saturation, and tone.
