A Large Tlatilco Terracotta Anthropomorphic Head, Central Mexico, 12th to 6th Century BC.

An impressive and relatively large terracotta head from the Tlatilco culture, finely hand-modelled with strong, expressive facial features. The face displays a wide-open mouth with visible teeth, a prominent nose, deeply set eyes, and a broad forehead. The surface retains a rich reddish-brown patina with attractive natural mineral encrustation, giving it a powerful and striking presence.
Tlatilco heads of this quality and size are highly sought after for their bold sculptural style and artistic sophistication during the Preclassic period in Central Mexico.
