Description from the seller
Pair of porcelain glazed greyhounds – cobalt blue base with gold trim – Art Deco style – 20th century
Description
Elegant pair of glazed porcelain greyhounds, depicted lying with contoured bases, characterized by slender and refined lines that recall the decorative taste of the Art Deco style. The figures present a stylized yet harmonious rendering, with elongated bodies, tapered snout, and proud stance typical of the greyhound, a subject much loved in early 20th century decorative art. The color contrast between the white body with orange gradient, and the deep cobalt blue base embellished with gold trim, gives a strong visual impact and great elegance. The pair, conceived as a symmetrical element, is perfect for display on a shelf, console, or bookcase, adding a sophisticated and timeless touch to the room. Highly sought decorative objects, both for aesthetics and subject matter, particularly appreciated in the 20th century decorative ceramics collecting circle.

Many European manufacturers between the 1920s and 1950s produced similar figures, intended for bourgeois interiors and sophisticated interiors of the era. Even today these sculptures are highly sought after for vintage, déco, and contemporary styling.
