Leica IIIg body camera, serial no. 877950, produced around 1957 in Germany, in good condition and tested and working.
Description from the seller
Leica IIIg body camera in beautiful and very good working condition.
Serial number: No.: 702348
Year of manufacture: c1949
Made in Germany (Deutschland)
The Leica IIIg body offered here comes from my own collection and has always been surrounded with the necessary care.
Serial number: No 877950 and it was produced in 1957 from a batch of 4,999 units.
The IIIg camera was the very last body produced with a 39 mm screw mount. Many people regard the IIIg as one of the last “Mohicans,” which makes the camera a special honor in itself. Quality of Leica is still held in high regard, and the IIIg is therefore a highly sought-after camera for collectors but also for users.
Nothing whatsoever on this body is made of plastic. Everything is solid metal—strong, robust and solid, as it should be. German “Gründlichkeit” in its true sense of sturdiness, care, and precision.
The offered camera shows signs of use but certainly no abuse, as seen in the many photos. Shutter speeds from 1 second to 1/1000 second all run by ear very well. The rangefinder still works very well and there is a clear contrast between the two sub-images. The alignment of the rangefinder is still very good and both horizontally and vertically the two images are perfectly superimposed, thereby correctly estimating the distance.
Looking through the finder image is still very bright and clear.
There is also a very small toothed lever on the top plate (near the film rewind knob) that serves for focusing the rangefinder window. This is a handy feature for people who wear glasses.
The bottom plate on the right side has a bit of chrome loss, which is certainly not too bad but indeed adds a certain charm of use.
Two small pieces of leather on the front of the camera have worn away by a few millimeters.
An original film take-up spool is still present if one wishes to use the IIIg for photography.
I have not set a minimum price for this IIIg camera because this time I want to give everyone the chance to bid and win.
Also take a look at my other Leica listings.
Good luck to all bidders.
The camera will be packed with great care and will be shipped with Track & Trace number and insurance.
NOTA:
I always ship my goods with Track & Trace number as well as insurance to cover possible damages and theft. If you do not agree with this, please do not place bids.
Thank you in advance.
