Toilet set - .800 silver - Shoehorn and Button Hook

Special .800 silver collectors' set, 1890 to 1920, antique and very well preserved.

The case contains two classic etiquette tools of the 19th and early 20th centuries. A shoehorn to help insert the foot into stiff leather shoes without damaging the heel, and a buttonhook that was used to fasten the numerous small buttons on leather boots or gloves of the era.

The pattern is Neoclassical or Louis XVI style, characterized by laurel leaf borders, crossed ribbons (bows), and the "thread" design on the edges.

The original case with silk and velvet lining suggests it was a luxury item or a common wedding gift in that era.

Annotation: only the handle is silver.
