Fluorite is the mineral form of calcium fluoride, and throughout history it has been used by many peoples and cultures to create artistic objects. Its impurities give it a wide variety of colors, a characteristic that in medieval times earned it the name 'stone flower'. This mineral is famous for the effect called fluorescence, after which it is named. Some of its varieties, in fact, glow under UV light. The weight of the sample should be considered with a Plexiglas support to which it is attached to serve as a base.
