Jan Snoek

The semicircular vase is made by Schoonhoven Keramiek with decoration by Jan Snoeck and text by Keats

Jan Snoeck (1927 - 2018) pursued training at the Royal Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague, where he graduated in 1949. In 1953 he worked for a year in Ossip Zadkine's studio in Paris.
Initially, Jan Snoeck worked with materials such as stone, wood and bronze. Later he mainly worked in ceramics. He uses bright, primary colors and people are usually his subject. Among other things, he made the beds for the MCH Westeinde in The Hague. His predominantly monumental work can be found in the Netherlands as well as abroad.
Snoeck’s work is in the collections of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag, the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem and the Princessehof Museum in Leeuwarden.
Jan Snoeck was a pupil of Ossip Zadkine, studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.
