Description from the seller
This telephone corresponds to the classic black model from Telefónica manufactured in Spain between the 1950s and the early 1960s, before the arrival of the “Heraldo” model. It was made of black Bakelite, a hard, heavy, and very resistant material, characteristic of telephones of the era.
The design stands out for its sober and elegant aesthetics, with rounded lines and a large front rotary dial for manual dialing. There were different variants depending on the type of dial — transparent, black, or metallic — and also depending on the handset, which could be normal or with a relief of the “soup spoon” type.
These phones were mainly manufactured by Standard Eléctrica for the Compañía Telefónica Nacional de España (CTNE), and for decades they symbolized modernity and prestige in many Spanish homes, as having a fixed line phone was not common. In many cases, the devices were rented by Telefónica along with the line.
The model in the image combines the glossy black finish with ornamental gold details and a decorative metallic dial, inspired by classic desktop telephones from the mid-20th century. Today, this type of piece is highly valued as a collectible and vintage decoration for its great aesthetic and historical value.
