Sol LeWitt, author and illustrator, presents Four Basic Colours and their Combinations, an English-language first edition softcover art book of 32 pages (20 x 20 cm) published by Lisson Publications in 1971, in near pristine condition, featuring colour line drawings that illustrate a system of four colours (yellow, black, red, blue).
Description from the seller
Colour line drawings reproduced throughout.
Four Basic Colors and Their Combinations illustrates a clear system for combining four colors (yellow, black, red, blue). Each page contains a rearrangement of these combinations—the colors blend to form various composite colors.
This book followed the publication of Four Basic Kinds of Straight Lines (#1974.0055) in 1969, and in 1977 Lewitt created Four Basic Kinds of Lines & Colour (1978.0253), which combine both color variables into a single system.
Early and sought after artist book by Solomon ‘Sol’ LeWitt featuring coloured line drawings that illustrate a distinct combinatory system of four colours (yellow, black, red, blue). [Ref. Maffei - Sol LeWitt Artist’s Books, p. 40]. Publisher’s wrappers, stapled. A very good copy.
Difficult to photograph the details in the colour fields.
